Performance
SV650s have become a favorite of ours to build and tune. They can be purchased for a moderate amount of money and can be modified to make in excess of 100hp. The engine and chassis lend themselves to any number of performance enhancing modifications. The engines, carbureted or injected are a wonderful starting point for any level of performance; Aftermarket exhaust with a PCIII usb and a quick shifter may be the most fun for the money, but bigger gains can be had, the bore size can be increased significantly, valve sizes can be increased, higher lift/longer duration cams can be fitted, port work, crank balancing and lightening will all help in the quest for horsepower. All these modifications are of questionable value until the package is tuned. Dyno tuning with the setup and fuel you will be using is critical to get the most out of your engine.
Shocks from Penske, Ohlins or Works Performance, with the right spring, will improve the bike's handeling. A properly installed gold valve kit from Race Tech or a revalving by Lindemann will help to bring the front end up to speed for hard road riding or racing. Some even opt for replacing the stock forks with an upside-down unit from a late model GSXR or similar sportbike.
We offer full engine building and tuning services for SV650s, our engine building has won many races and, while our lead mechanic and owner Fred Snyder was working for another shop during the 2004 season, his SV650 engines and tuning won the shop 'Tuner of the Year' from the local roadracing organization.
